Leading content company Kew Media Distribution will showcase an impressive line-up of high-quality, new-to-market factual titles ahead of MIPCOM.
British comedian and travel enthusiast Griff Rhys Jones joins “Griff’s Great Kiwi Road Trip” a travel show in which he journeys off the beaten track from the top of New Zealand’s North Island to the bottom of the South Island, all the while avoiding the well-trodden path of State Highway 1. It is produced by Essential Media Group, a part of the Kew Media Group.
In non-fiction series Road to Riches, Australian picker Lucas Callaghan visits households who have a pressing need to raise some readies, and he’ll convert their unwanted collectables into cold hard cash. Road to Riches is an Essential Media Group production for Foxtel.
The Impossible: Live is a stunt series set to premiere on A&E and international partners around the world next summer. Each week, the two-hour live broadcast will test the limits of the mind and body as world-class athletes attempt never before seen stunts that defy what we think of as possible.
Through a wealth of rare and never before seen archival footage and never before heard audio recordings, documentary feature Laurel Canyon pulls back the curtain on a mythical world and provides an up-close look at the lives of the musicians who inhabited it.
Legacy List with Matt Paxton is a factual series billed as a cross between Antiques Roadshow and History Detectives. It follows the TV personality as he and his team of expert movers help families downsize their homes and part with their household items and memorabilia. The series comes from MY Entertainment in association with Shipyard Entertainment for Virginia Public Media and PBS member station WCVE in the US. Format rights are also available.
Returning series include season two of Paranormal 911, a programme that explores paranormal-related emergencies in the US, and the second season of Haunted Hospitals, which tells the stories of supposed paranormal activity inside hospitals, nursing homes, morgues and medical institutions. Both come from Kew Media’s Bristow Global Media.
Another returning series is HLN original Inside Evil with Chris Cuomo, the second season of which follows the CNN journalist as he takes viewers inside the most dangerous minds in the US.
On the subject of CNN, the news channel’s original docuseries The Movies is also coming to Mipcom. Produced by The Playtone Company and Herzog & Company, with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman exec producing, The Movies explores the evolution of US cinema through the decades.
From Kew Media’s Our House Media is Murder in Amish Country, which explores a series of murders within the US’s notoriously secretive Amish community, and My Paranormal Nightmare, which tells the stories of people who claim to have experienced hauntings in their childhood years.
Also from Our House Media is Mutant Weather, a series that explores the impact climate change is having on weather patterns around the world.
Finally, High Maintenance is an engineering-focused programme exploring the constant monitoring and maintenance required by buildings and technological structures in order to avert disaster. The show comes from Kew Media’s Frantic Films.
