Amazon Games announces close beta testing for its upcoming game ‘New World’

Amazon Games revealed during the PC Gaming Show that closed beta for its upcoming massively multiplayer online (MMO) game New World will be available 23 July. A trailer debuting combat gameplay was also unveiled during the presentation.

New World is set in the 1600s, and the players have to colonise a fictional world, modelled after British America. The players have to gather and craft resources and fight other players in a massive open world. The game will have both PvP and PvE fights.

The game is currently slated for late summer on 25 August, but players who pre-order can get in on the action early. If players pre-order New World on Steam, they will be able to get an early taste of the action with an invite to the closed beta

One of the leading characteristics of the game will be its massive battles featuring up to 100 players engaged in combat, which is skill-based and will allow direct control over specific moves and attacks.

Players can band together or play alone in the game, and either way, there will be the ability to customise their own homes, progress their characters, craft mechanics to help them survive on the island, and contribute to the community.

After Crucible, a free to play team-based PvP shooter, New World will be a major test for Amazon’s entry into the world of gaming. Crucible was Amazon’s first big-budget game and is available on Steam.
