The covid-19 pandemic has created a mess for the movie industry. With many movies cancelling theatrical releases and opting digital platforms, many others are being scheduled and re-scheduled. The latest in the shuffling is the live-action Tom & Jerry movie, which has been delayed to 2021. Warner Bros. decided to move a wide number of their films to later dates including Matrix 4, Tenet, Wonder Woman 1984, Godzilla vs. Kong. Warner Bros. is moving Tom & Jerry from 23 December 2020 to 5 March 2021 and pushing an untitled New Line horror movie to 4 June 2021.

Tom & Jerry’s cast is packed with stars including Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass), Michael Pena (Ant-Man), Colin Jost (Saturday Night Live) as well as Ken Jeong (Community), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Jordan Bolger (The 100), and Pallavi Sharda (Lion). Tim Story (Fantastic Four) directs a screenplay by Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, and Kevin Costello.

Moretz plays a hotel employee named Kayla, who enlists the help of a street cat named Tom to help her rid the establishment of a scampering and mischievous mouse — that mouse, of course, being Jerry. Pena plays her boss, Terrance. That’s all we know about the Tom and Jerry movie at the moment.

Directed by Tim Story and produced by Story and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett, the script reportedly includes work from Katie Silberman, April Prosser, and Kevin Costello. There has been no word on who will be playing the titular duo.
