Hulu announced their 2020 Spring preview on Friday, which included two hotly-anticipated adult-animated series. Solar Opposites will premiere May 8, with Crossing Swords following swiftly behind on June 12.
Co-created by Justin Roiland (co-creator of Rick and Morty) and Mike McMahan (former writer’s assistant on Rick and Morty), Solar Opposites centres on a team of four aliens who have escaped their exploding homeworld, only to crash land into a move-in ready home in suburban America. They are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (voiced by Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambroni) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty, while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love humans and all their TV, junk food, and fun stuff. Their mission: protect the Pupa, a living supercomputer that will one day evolve into its true form, consume them and terraform the Earth.
Solar Opposites is executive produced by Roiland, McMahan and Josh Bycel. The series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Series regulars include Justin Roiland, Thomas Middleditch, Mary Mack, and Sean Giambrone.
In Crossing Swords, goodhearted wannabe-hero Patrick lands his dream job as a squire, only to learn the royal castle is a corrupt hornet’s nest of horny monarchs, crooks and charlatans. War, murder, full-frontal nudity — who knew brightly coloured peg people led such exciting lives?
The Crossing Swords cast includes Nicholas Hoult, Adam Ray, Tara Strong, Tony Hale, Luke Evans, Seth Green, Alanna Ubach, Adam Pally, Yvette-Nicole Brown, Maya Erskine, Breckin Meyer and Wendi McClendon Covey.
